The Recycling Business Assistance Center (RBAC) is part of the Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS), a non-regulatory division within the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality.

The RBAC team understands the economic and environmental importance of building a circular economy. RBAC provides technical assistance and market information for recycling businesses to divert materials from landfill disposal and redirect them back into the economy. Extending the life of reusable products and making new products from recovered materials saves energy, water, reduces air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, decreases demands on virgin natural resources, and strengthens the local recycling economy that provides jobs and builds supply chain resiliency.
